I've seen a few posts about this topic and Katherine from 5StarrScooters.com (be sure to notice the 2 Rs) called my attention this issue. My understanding of the situation is that certain cities in California, including San Clemente, are trying to ban scooters from skate parks because of the liability of potential injury. The reason why this isn't a concern with skateboarding and BMX is because those sports are on a list of activities deemed "hazardous recreational activities" (HRA). When a sport is on that list, the city's liability is limited with regard to injuries for individuals participating in that sport.
